The two buildings will consist of over 70,000 sq. foot of restored and newly built facility.  The property will include 69 rooms, over 10,000 sq. foot of event/meeting rooms with the largest ballroom being over a 5,000 sq. foot space with ceilings topping out at nearly 30 feet, featuring panoramic views of downtown Monroe and the Ouachita River.  There will be one full service restaurant serving both the hotel and event spaces.  The main lobby will include a full service bar. Atop the former Hardware building will be a rooftop bar with an outdoor viewing deck.

The Hotel will be operated by Cornerstone Hospitality Management of Williamsburg Virginia, the hotel builder will be Lincoln Builders of Ruston and Architect will be CDFL (Cooke, Douglass, Farr, Lemons) of Jackson Mississippi.  The development of this hotel began over 3 years ago.  The Buildings were purchased by the Echols in December of 2013.  Formerly the buildings served as the Poolside Shop and Southern Hardware.  The buildings have stood in Monroe since the late 1800's.  The Poolside Shop building (120 Walnut) was originally built as the Sugar Brothers Grocery and Opera House in 1891.   In the mid 1920's the Opera House building served as a local Hotel called the Star Hotel.

The Hotel Monroe will be a manifestation of the local traditions and culture of the City of Monroe and its surrounding rural communities. Our goal is to make the hotel the living room of our community and create a place that friends and family can gather and celebrate what makes Northeast Louisiana a great place to live and stay. Estimated opening for the property will be in late 2019.
